Reading Is Fundamental Once again all schools in Bridgeport will be participating In Reading Is Fundamental this year. The goal of RIF is to put a book in the hand and home of every child. Three distributions have been scheduled this year. Wilbur Cross School will be participating in the first distribution the week of November 17th. The books will be displayed in the cafeteria. Classes/ grade levels will be given specific times for the distribution. Teachers should accompany the class to the cafeteria, at the designated time and assist with the appropriate book selection. Each student needs to select his/ her own book. I am including a recording sheet for each teacher to list the names of each student who is absent during the classes scheduled time. Those students will be invited back at a designated time during the week. Participating in RIF again this year is a very special opportunity for the students at Wilbur Cross. Most students last year provided very positive feedback. After the selections have been made, provide the opportunity for students to talk about their selections and why they may have chosen a specific book. Reading Is Fundamental and In the 21st century It's crucial. Cynthia Seastrong Literacy Coach
