Good Morning Parents! As many of you know, Bassick High School now offers Chrome Books for the students to use in class. Many people are not aware of to what "Chrome Book" actually is and how it is used.

I've attached a few links that offer some information on Chrome Books.

The Bridgeport Public Schools evaluated a variety of systems and hardware for the students and decided on Google Apps for Education and Chromebooks. Here are some of the reasons why:

Goals:
*Increase student engagement
*Expose our students to the latest technology - software and hardware
*Create student centered learning environments
*Allow students and teachers to do new things, work collaboratively and create projects
*Prepare our students for the transition to online testing as we move toward Common Core State Standards implementation
*Provide equitable access to computers to all students (1:1)

Fire Drills:
When the announcement is made:
• Students and staff are to follow the primary and if necessary secondary exit plan based on the room they are in. The plan is posted in each room. The secure areas include across the street on State Street, Fairfield Avenue and Clinton Avenue.
• Teachers are to take their roll books and take attendance of their students. ELL and special education students are to be assigned buddies and stay close to their teacher. All students and staff are to remain positioned across the street at the given location.
• A phone blast will be sent home to all parents/guardians at the beginning of the drill and at its conclusion.
• A brief faculty meeting will occur at the end of the day to review the plan.

Lockdown:
When the announcement is made:
• All students are cleared from the hallway and moved into a class by staff
• Lock all doors and turn off the lights.
• Draw blinds and cover window if time is available.
• Move students to interior wall or area so that they are not visible by intruder
• Be quiet and wait for directions.
• A phone blast will be sent home to all parents/guardians at the beginning of the lockdown and at its conclusion.
• A brief faculty meeting will occur at the end of the day to review the plan.

When the announcement is made:
• Take the closest and safest pathway to exit the building with your students.
• Teachers are to bring their roll books and take attendance when they arrive at their destination
