Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS)

PBIS stands for Positive Behavior Interventions and
Supports. This program provides a systematic approach to discipline that teaches positive behavioral expectations, rewards proper behavior and provides consequences and additional supports for rule violators.

PBIS includes a data-based decision-making process to identify needs. This approach helps to design strategies to reduce problem behaviors and improve academic performance.

Therefore, PBIS provides a continuum of school-wide instructional and positive supports. Most students can succeed with a basic support level but others need additional help to succeed.
