Dear Parents and Families of Multicultural Magnet School:

I hope you are enjoying the final week of summer and gearing up for a great school year. It is truly an honor for me to serve as the new Principal at MCM. I am looking forward to an amazing year of learning and collaborating with our staff, parents, children and community members.

This will be my 17th year as an educator in the city of Bridgeport, where I have served the community as a teacher, Numeracy Coach and school administrator. I am also a very proud graduate of the Magnet School system in Bridgeport, where my children currently attend. I truly believe our Magnet Schools are an excellent place for our children to develop academically as well as socially and emotionally.

Multicultural Magnet’s continued success is dependent upon our entire community working together and establishing a strong home-school connection. I strongly believe that parents and family members are an integral part of our school community. Therefore, I encourage you to get involved in the various committees and participate in the activities and programs we have planned for you at MCM. Be sure to check our school website and Facebook page regularly for important information and keep your phone numbers and email addresses current so we can reach you via email and phone blasts. Your support, commitment, participation and continued communication with our school staff will help us to ensure a nurturing environment where all children celebrate diversity, express their creativity, learn at high levels and flourish personally.

It is our goal at MCM to partner with you to make this school year the very best for your children. To help keep you informed, we invite you to attend our Open House Nights on September 3rd (grades 6-8) and September 10th (grades K-5). Please see the attachment below for the location and times. We will begin with a general session followed by a time for you to meet and greet your children’s teachers.

I look forward to meeting all of you on August 28th! Please remember that this will be a one-session day. We will begin the day at 8:35am dismiss promptly at 12:40pm

Sincerely,

Dr. Luis G. Planas
