Procedure for New Families

Classical Studies Magnet Academy offers an extended day program which embraces curriculum-related and enrichment activities. While focusing on the Paideia instructional methodology, students engage in Socratic seminars and culminate units of study with projects or performances. Classical Studies MagnetAcademy was recognized as a School of Distinction (2013) by the Connecticut State Department of Education.

Magnet and Theme School applications are now available online at www.bridgeportedu.net  or  http://bpsapply.com/elementary.  If you would like your child to attend Classical Studies Magnet Academy, you need to apply for the lottery by completing an application online.  Applications are available beginning in January. 

If you currently have a child at CSMA, we do have a sibling policy.  Please complete lottery application and let us know you wish to have a sibling attend CSMA as soon as possible.  If you do not notify us of your intent, we can not guarantee a spot for your child.  If you have any questions about the lottery process please call Office of Pupil Services at (203) 275-1286 or CSMA Main Office @ (203) 576-7188.

Prospective parents will be notified of acceptance once the Lottery has been completed.

Mandatory orientations are scheduled by Pupil Services and you will be notified of those dates via mail.


2018 Magnet School Lottery Information

Open Application Period: January 10, 2018 - March 2, 2018

Lottery will be run on March 29, 2018


New Parent Orientation will take place in June at the CSA Annex 659 Beechwood Avenue.  All New Kindergarten Accepted parents must attend orientation.  Registration will take place during the 10:00 a.m. session.  If you attend 5:00 p.m. session, a registration appointment will have to be made for a later date.  For all accepted students the following is needed on the day of orientation:
  • child's birth certificate
  • child's health record/ immunization record
  • parent ID/driver's license
  • 2 proof's of address
  • child social security card
  • child's health insurance card
  • guardianship paperwork if applicable
If your child has been placed on the waiting list, you may also attend the orientation for the possibility that your child is moved from waiting list to accepted list.
