The Aquaculture school is pleased to participate in a Lobster Culture / Restoration project in partnership with the Sound School of New Haven and the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP). 

Students in the Ecology of Marine Species class are leading the project involving the culture of lobsters from egg collection to a mature stage.  One goal of this project is to identify best practices for such culture and to create a protocol based on those best practices.  Seen below are newly hatched larva and stage 4 lobsters.

These young lobsters are being released into Long Island Sound following months of mindful care.  Click here to see a video of the first release.
