Central High School Web Page Design

General Description

The goal of this course is to have students acquire usuable Web design skills. Students will be exposed to and learn to work with HTML, Javascript, CSS and Perl web programming languages. Much of the understanding that will be gained will be through a hands on experince of designing, creating and maintaining actual web sites.

Course Requirements

  1. Students must maintain a dated hard cover three-ring binder that will be collected and graded at the end of each marking period. Any missing or undated information will be graded with a zero. Notebooks must be typed or printed neatly. All topics researched on a particular day must be referenced and then noted in notebook. Each day must have notes or there will be a zero for that day (abscences are no excuse).
  2. Daily assignments must be printed out and added to notebook in a neat and orderly fashion.
  3. Web page deadlines must be met. Once again abscences not an excuse for assignments not being completed.

Grading

  1. Notebooks will make up 33% of grade.
  2. Published web pages will make up 33% of grade.
  3. Quizes, all of which will be unannounced make up 33% of the grade. Your homework every night is to study the notes you took on that days activities. You may have a closed notebook quiz at any time.
  4. If you are in school and miss this class without permission then you get 5 points off your final average (10 for 90 minute class)
  5. Cut class, 5 points off final average (10 for 90 minute class)
  6. Tardy to class, -1 off final average
  7. Every abscence over 3 per marking period, 2 points off final average, per 45 minute class (this is a participatory class, if you are not here then you cannot excel)
  8. Surfing web where you shouldn't be or playing games at any time, -3
