As summer is winding down, here at Thomas Hooker we are eagerly preparing for the arrival of our students on September 1st. I am thrilled to be the Principal of Thomas Hooker, and I can't wait to meet all of you!
September 1, the first day of school, is a half day. Dismissal will be at 12:50. Friday is a full day. Dismissal will be at 3:10. Monday, September 5 is Labor Day, and school will be closed.
In order to make the transition to new classrooms smoother, we need your help. For the first day of school, the new class lists will be posted outside. Students should line up with their new classroom assignments. As usual, grades 5-8 will line up on the E. Pasadena side of the building, and K-4 will line up on the side of the playground. Kindergarten teachers and staff will be available to greet new Kindergarten students to ensure they find their classroom.
After the first day, the morning procedure will change. Though our start time is still 8:50, students will be allowed into the cafeteria as early as 8:30 for breakfast. Instead of lining up outside, students will come inside the cafeteria (the door in the parking lot on East Pasadena) to receive their breakfast, and when they have finished breakfast, K-5 students will line up in the gym and 6-8 students will line up outside. This is a new procedure so I ask for everyone’s patience and cooperation!
If you have any questions, please feel free to call our office for clarification. Again, I look forward to meeting you and to a great year of fun and learning!
