Dr. Deborah Santacapita

We are proud that Hallen School was selected to be one of the four Turnaround Schools in Bridgeport! Turnaround Arts is a national program by the President’s Committee on the Arts and the Humanities, in coordination with the White House, the U.S. Department of Education, and several foundations, to bring arts education programming and resources to high-poverty elementary and middle schools across the country. There are only 49 Turnaround Arts schools in 27 school districts and 14 states and the District of Columbia and Hallen is one of them!

Turnaround Artists are acclaimed, creative professionals who adopt our schools over the length of the program, working directly with students and teachers, engaging parents and the school community, and highlighting the positive impact of the arts on their school’s transformation.

David Blaine
Our artist will be David Blaine. David Blaine, a magician, illusionist, and endurance artist, is a modern-day Houdini from Brooklyn. Introduced to magic on a subway car when he was 4 years old, Mr. Blaine picked up magic and started to push the limits of what was physically possible.

"Being exposed to magic at a young age taught me to explore and push the limits of my imagination. Magic combines all the things I love – math, science, and logic. I look forward to working with Hallen School students and hope to inspire them through the Turnaround Arts program.” -David Blaine

Our new motto will be, “We are all performers in the act of life!”
