Dear Parents,

As you may have already heard, our teachers have been implementing the Ruler Program in their classrooms, which helps children and adults further develop their emotional intelligence.  As part of the Ruler Program, we are also working on the Feelings Words Curriculum.  Words help students voice their thoughts and feelings, ask for information, and get the attention and affection necessary for healthy social and emotional development.  Their classroom teacher will work on new vocabulary feeling words monthly.  They have talked about the following feeling words the last few months; HAPPY, EXCITED, FRUSTRATED, and DISAPPOINTED.  In February, we will be working on the words; KIND and CARING.  We encourage you to also share a story with your child that demonstrates these feelings.  Stop by and check out the Feeling Words bulletin board –help yourself to a list of the feeling words curriculum and books lists.  If you have any questions, please feel free to ask your child’s classroom teacher.

Below, you will find a list of the Feeling Words that our school will focus on each month.
