Welcome to the New School Year 2014/2015

Dear Parents/Guardians & Students,

  It is my pleasure to welcome you and your student(s) to the 2014-15 school year!  As I begin my first school year as the Principal of Madison Elementary School, I am honored, excited, optimistic and deeply committed to making a positive difference in the lives of our children. We will accomplish this by setting high academic and behavioral expectations for all of our students and by working hard to provide the support systems needed to ensure all students are successful. By setting high standards for both student and staff performance, by encouraging a positive school climate and by working collaboratively with staff, parents, families and the surrounding community it is our goal to develop a true professional learning community here at Madison Elementary School.

  As you know we have a wonderful, caring and dedicated staff at Madison School and we have a few new faculty members this year that I am eager for you to meet. For starters, I am joined by a new Assistant Principal, Mrs. Giovanna Ramos! Mrs. Ramos has extensive experience in the field of education and has served as a School Counselor and Director of Guidance.  We are excited that she is joining our team!

 On regular days school begins promptly at 8:40 am. Dismissal is at 3:00 pm (Grades K-3) & 3:05 pm (Grades 4-6)

    • If it is raining  at dismissal grades 2-4 will be dismissed in the gym, grades K & 1 will be picked up at their classrooms and grades 5 & 6 will be dismissed in the front of the building. In case of inclement weather at dismissal all parents/guardians who need to pick up students in the building must report through/leave though the front door entrance of the building only.

    • We continue to place safety and security at the highest priority here at Madison School. Therefore parents and guardians are requested to leave your child at the designated locations listed above and may not report to the classrooms. All available personnel will assist your child to find the correct room. If you need to bring anything to the school, please come to the main office and we will be sure that your child receives the message or item.

    • All visitors must sign in at the main office and obtain a visitor sticker. All building staff have been instructed to make sure this procedure is followed. If you do not have a sticker you will be asked to obtain one in the main office.

 When your child is absent please call the school office 203-576-7186. Also, please send in a note explaining why your child was absent from school.

School starts at 10:20am on 90 minutes delayed openings!
