The following objectives encompass all aspects of the Visual Arts Curriculum: 1. To use the visual arts as a method of recording personal expression, feelings and experience. 2. To discuss and identify the elements and principles of design. 3. Continue to develop competency in verbal and writing skills. 4. Continue to develop math proficiency. 5, To promote a positive student self-image through the visual arts. 6.To instill an appreciation of all students' heritage and cultures. 7. To continue to develop language art skills and visual literacy by providing vocabulary and concepts. 8. To continue to develop listening skills by developing sequential steps within each lesson. 9. To continue to build the foundation of basic knowledge by reading to students aloud using age appropriate historical and current art information. 10. To provide a positive learning environment in the classroom.
