Children in grades 5 - 8 learn to play on the stringed instruments: violin, viola, cello, and bass violin. Students in grades 6 - 8 perform concerts twice a year. Attendance at those evening concerts is required and students receive a grade for their performance. Each child is given an instrument and lesson book which may be taken home for practice during the school year. These instruments are loaned at no charge to the child, but must be returned to the school at the end of each school year. Grades are given throughout the school year as performing arts. Students are graded on their ability to perform the required lessons for each semester. Students should practice each lesson at home and come to class prepared to play that lesson correctly. They must take good care of their instruments and bring them to school on days when they have performing arts.
